As an official national sports federation recognized by the Ministry of Sports, the DSFL is in charge of coordinating DanceSport in the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg.

The federation is a member of the Luxembourgish Olympic and Sports Committee Luxembourg (COSL), of the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF). Its activities are regulated by the Luxembourg Anti-Doping Agency (ALAD).

The DSFL's missions include:

• Promoting the practice of DanceSport in Luxembourg together with its member clubs

• Issuing DanceSport licence to athletes competing for Luxembourg

• Governing DanceSport by providing a suitable framework for athletes, officals and trainers

• Organizing DanceSport events in Luxembourg
